Monotypes are done by painting on a plastic plate and then running it
through the printing press thereby transferring the painting to the paper
using the pressure of the press.
You NEVER knew what you would get...a lump of coal or a mink coat!
Monotypes afforded me with a chance to "unloose" my style,
especially when I did abstract blanket designs.
I did many different subjects though.
Collage came a bit later. I initially used a technique called "chine collé."
(That's "Chinese gluing" in french.) The press was used for this also, but later on
I used all different kinds of glues.
.
I preferred Arches 100% cotton rag paper from France. It must be pre-soaked and blotted.
